You feel like there are just so much news out there and you just want to know what is “top” and popular?
The web can get “bloated” with news very fast, so Alltop and CNN have both eased the “bloating”.
Alltop and CNN’s NewsPulse both offer top news, but they are very different.
They are different in that Alltop displays top stories that relate to news gathered and talked about on many blogs, whereas CNN displays the most popular news from their own sources. So, both sites appeal to different types of people and what news they like.
I use Alltop more than CNN’s NewsPulse because I am more interested in what news is on Alltop. But, find out below what top story site fits your personal needs or wants.
Alltop

- Get a free account to allow for personalization of what kind of news you want displayed along with creating your own “Alltop”.
- You are able to personalize what news you would like to see on the “hot topics” page by simply clicking the (+) button, which will go to a checkmark symbolizing that you would like to keep that source and put it into your “Alltop”.
- With the free account and your own “Alltop” you can share what news you like to read with anyone by giving your url.
- The categories at the top along with the A-Z list give you all the keywords associated with the category along with any top news with that keyword.
CNN’s NewsPulse

- You are able to filter what information you would like to be displayed (all news or just tech or opinion)
- By default each story is sorted by popularity (makes sense to give you the top stories)
- The nicest feature, I think, is sorting the top news by time. So, say you wanted to know the most popular news in that last 15 minutes rather than the whole day.
- It’s a simple way to get all the top news and you could make it your homepage rather than the CNN homepage, if you just want the latest stories.
The LifeNotion: Getting all the news these days can be a struggle, so use Alltop or CNN to solve your frustrations.

Hmm… I'd never even heard of those before! Pretty sweet if I do say so myself
Yes there are!
Think about if you needed to find an article or current event for a particular class.
Additionally, if you like to stay on top of the news they would create great homepages.
