GE just released their Vscan ultrasound to help minimize the number of patient referrals. Because basically when a pregnant mother or women wants to get an ultrasound the payment to get it done can be immense even with insurance.
For instance “An ultrasounds performed by a licensed medical professional (physician or registered diagnostic sonographer) costs on average between $100 – $1,000 depending upon what type of ultrasound you get (3-D vs. regular). Not all facilities charge the same amount for the same procedure. Usually stand alone ultrasound facilities, which are not associated with hospitals, cost around $99 to $300. The same ultrasound performed at a hospital may run $200 to $1000. These ultrasound cost usually include the price for black and white pictures, videos, and/or a CD photo disk. Often the cost of an ultrasound is reimbursed by insurance companies if the procedure is considered medically necessary. If this is the case then usually a small co-pay is the only out of pocket expense. However, if you are getting an ultrasound simply to have a picture (3-D, 4-D, or standard 2-D) or to determine the sex of the baby your insurance company may not be willing to pay the cost of the procedure and you will be left responsible for the charges. So make sure you ask your insurer if the intended ultrasound will be reimbursed or not. If the cost will not be reimbursed then make sure you shop around for the procedure to ensure you save as much as you possibly can.” (Source: Compare Ultrasound Cost)
So, this pocket-sized ultrasound can be by your local or private doctor with the price being as if a pregnant mother or women just got a check-up. Now this device by GE is not only for ultrasounds, but to make more advance diagnoses by the doctor. These certain advancements include pin-pointing any fluid around the heart that would later lead to heart problems.

#1 I like how the adds at the bottom are for pregnant people, and then for losing stomach fat
#2 How much would one of these little deals cost? Because typically you only have a baby 1-4 times, so what do you do with it after you're done having babies?
Not sure on the cost. But they could sell it to other couples or pass it on to their local clinic or hospital.
