Temptation to Gather in the Kitchen

The kitchen is one place we all find ourselves in more than once a day.

Many of these times are the times you share with your family or friends.  Why does everyone retreat to the kitchen?  You are not throwing a kitchen party, but we all know that people love food.  We all retreat to kitchen to converse with one another, catch up on old times, discuss business, or just grab a bit to eat.

Your new year’s resolution for 2010 might be to eat less.  Every time you go to the kitchen you do not always have to eat.

Find time to always gather in the kitchen, because it sparks:

  • New and old relationships
  • Ideas
  • Creativity
  • Emotion

It is really amazing what food can spark and do for you.  But, it is also amazing how a place full of food can spark the same (obviously), but you do not always have to eat something.  The temptation is always there in the pantry, in the fridge, or in that cookie jar with freshly made cookies. Temptation is every where and there is always temptation to want to hangout in the kitchen even if you are hungry or not.

The LifeNotion: Be sure to gather in the kitchen this year with your friends and family, because you will be missing something.

  • "You are not throwing a kitchen party" HAHA! Good call… And interesting post. I looove being in the kitchen ;) That's not just cause I'm a food guru, but just because it's easy to gather and not feel like we have to sit and converse at a table or something. Also because there is always food… so it'd be good to go into the kitchen and NOT eat.

    Nice post

    • I feel like we gather in kitchens because taking a look at human history it has been a really important part of our lives.

Now we just gather in the kitchen because it is a self, unknown desire (being a human-being) need or want.

  • Derek – I think you should throw a virtual lifenotion kitcken party ;)

This new found freedom of mine has meant I can spend a lot more time in the kitchen actually cooking something as well as conversing with others. Back in the office it was a great way to have some small talk and get away from the daily grind. I worked in a huge office so there were a lot of people I hadn't seen before from different departments all the time.

We used to go a little crazy in the office and do some fun stuff like put a 'PS3 fund' box to help raise money to buy someone a Playstation 3. Harmless fun that caused some conversation around the office. Level 3 had a chocolate/candy vending machine I liked to call 'candy mountain' and we'd go on adventures there from time to time :P

Yeah I'm missing the office antics a little bit!

    P.S.
I think we raised about $7.50 towards that PS3 ;)

    • I might just think about doing that sometime Sarge and it is really amazing what simple and creative things we do to start conversations.

P.S. Haha I think you all should have donated money towards a gift card. (any amount is good)
